FAQ - Humidifiers

The FAQs below are strictly referred to the products from Norditalia and are not valid for products of other manufacturers. It is mandatory to read carefully the user manual that comes with the appliance. The informations contained in this section are complementary and not substitutive to the contents of the user manual.

If by reading carefully the user manual you could non solve the problem, please check this out:

  • When I turn on the humidifier there's no steam coming out of it.
Verify for the switch to be correctly turned on by rotating the vaporizer group as described in the user manual.
It is normal to wait a few minutes before steam starts coming out.

  • The humidifier doesn't work or makes little steam.
Check if there are limescales in the vaporizer group. In that case limescales can be removed with white vinegar or other anti-limescale products as indicated below and in the user manual.

  • Can salt or other substances be added to speed up the vaporization?
Adding substances different from water into the water bowl damages irreparably the humidifier and can cause an eccessive electrical energy consumption with an excessive boiling and dangerous spillage of the water from the device up to the intervention of the protection fuse.

  • Can balsamic or scented substances be placed into the vaporizer?
Balsamic or scented substances must be placed in the suitable cup placed near the steam exit nozzle. Never insert an excessive quantity of balsamic or scented substances since they could escape from their cup and leak into the water bowl. Never put these substances into the water bowl.

  • The humidifier boils violently, spits water or stops working suddenly.
This can happen due to the excessive conductivity of the water, generally caused by the presence of many salts in ionic form. Don't add salt or other substances to the water, just use normal tap water. Don't use water coming from purifiers (ex. reverse osmosis purifiers or salt using ones) and don't forget to clean carefully the bowl after use to prevent the build-up of saline deposits.

  • Is it essential to clean the bowl of the humidifier after every use?
It is essential to clean carefully the bowl after every use so the build-up of limescales and saline deposits can be avoided. Those often cause malfunction of the humidifier and can even damage it.

  • Is it normal to find dark residues in the water bowl after use?
It's an absolutely normal phenomenon. We are talking about limescales and other salts that the humidifier in its normal functioning tends to concentrate and separate from vaporized water. It is however important to remove those residues by rinsing accurately the water bowl after use.
  • How can I remove limescales from the electrodes (blades) of the humidifier?
When removing the limescales from the electrodes of the humidifier, those scales can be found on the blades forming a white-greyish layer of salt. It is generally sufficient to fill a bowl with 5 cm of vinegar and put the vaporizer inside it (warning: do NOT insert the plug in the electrical socket). Just leave it stand perfectly straight overnight. Don't exceed the level indicated and be carefull not to wet the upper part of the vaporizer and the electrical parts. After this operation immerse the vaporizer in a bowl with 6 cm of water to rinse the residues of vinegar. Refer to the user manual of the product to correctly perform these operations.

  • The obtained level of humidification of the environment is insufficient.
Our humidifiers (New White Vapor – Mini Vapor) emit in the environment about 330 ml of water per hour. These have to be divided by the size of the environment (cubic metres). So a too wide environment (too many cubic metres) inevitably makes the humidification of the same environment insufficient. Reduce the size of the environment, for example by closing a door, or extend the use of the humidifer. We suggest to place the appliance in a central position to the area to be humidified.

  • Where should I place the humidifier while it's turned on?
The best place is on the floor, preferably in a corner of the room or wherever you might non stumble upon it, with the steam oriented toward free space (not toward the wall or furniture or objects). Don't place it on wooden furniture or other surfaced that can be damaged by heat. Keep the humidifier away from children.
